Vaustrilious Guirelle Jager Had just finished his mid-day bathing ritual in the shallows of a stream. Today had been a rather ordinary and non-too exciting. Vaust would have gone far enough to say it had been boring, which was unusual for the young coywolf as he somehow always found something to amuse himself. but today....Today was shaping up just to be one of those calm days when there was nothing better to do then to observe the goings on in the world with quiet contentment. Shaking himself he rid his body of excess water, driplets falling down to the ground only to splatter on the myrid stalks of dried grass. Fur sticking out at odd ends he smiled wryly, imagining what he must have looked like, something between a hedgehog and a sodden furball. Giggling lightly he let himself fall down with a solid thump, stretching out to his full length on the ground. Snorting he scanned the immediate area with one eye. Finding nothing of interest he closed it and resigned himself to a quiet not-much-to-do kind of day.
Jade Wolfbane came back from some short hunt, alone of course. Everyone who seemed to come by never really stayed for long. She worried about Music. And wondered where Rin ran off to. And then Snow and Kaishi too, they seemed so promising! Jade flopped her ears to the sides while she arrived back to her little claimed turf. No other wolf packs came over here, this was a safe location for the most part. Though with the fact that wolf packs never came, it also meant that it was rare for loners to stop by. But today was one of those rare days, it looked like. For once she got back home she spotted a fellow canine of sorts, flopped out nearby. Giving a quick look around, Jade spoke up, hoping that this seemingly half drowned canine was in good shape. "Hey, are you alright?" she asked, ever friendly, slightly worried over the total stranger.
Vaustrilious Guirelle Jager Was just on the verge of dozing off when he heard the voice, sounding far away as he was slowly slipping from the edge of reality. With an effort he righted himself and looked around, blinking owlishly. Was that just the beginnings of a dream...? He certainly couldn't discern anything from the high grass surrounding him. Vaust was about to nod off again when he heard the feet...Pat pat, pat pat pat...The noise of someone approaching. And here I thought today would be quiet..My bad! He thought with a touch of sarcasm. Rubbing a paw across his face he looked around again. Still nothing. Puffing out his cheeks in annoyance he was about to give up when something lifted from his mind, as if he had been smothered by a heavy object before it was suddenly removed, allowing him to use his acute senses. This time he didn't even have to turn to see who had made the noise, and where the voice was coming from. It was a wolf....A black wolf. Vaust stared long and hard and was about to burst out laughing. In two weeks he had met a black mare, a black wolf, and now another...? He had to bite his tongue to keep himself from laughing in front of the stranger. If this person was female like the other two had been he wouldn't be able to contain his merriment. Was this becoming some sort of running joke? Anyone else wouldn't have cared to notice things like color or gender, but for some reason Vaust had never had a problem with finding things of interest in the plain common everyday occurrence. Heaving himself off the ground he got into a sitting position, tail hugging his right leg as he lowered his snout politely. "Many a good day to you. An' yes, I'm quite fine. Just had m'self a bit of a hygen trip. But now I'm all clean and ready for whatever comes next...And it seems today holds more surprises then I first expected." Listening carefuly for the wolf's next words, hoping to determine gender. [d]
Jade Wolfbane would have been sad if this poor fellow had run into some sort of danger. Though words had calmed her slightly, she still had a small feeling that she was intruding on this one's space. As ever, this was her space, but she'd still be polite enough to move away for a moment, maybe to search for Music again. But Jade was just too nice and it would cost her, most likely. "Oh, I'm sorry for bothering you." she said in complete honesty. Guy did look to be just about asleep before she came in, after all. And by his words, for being okay, it was the good kind of sleep. Feeling all refreshed and relaxed, till a certain black female barged in. Oh Jade. Ears flicked back as she suddenly felt very awkward standing there before the total stranger ..canine-thing. She wasn't exactly sure what kind of dog he was.
Vaustrilious Guirelle Jager Heard it. He had heard it. It was indeed female. Biting his lip he did his best, muttering out a reply, "Oh, oh....It's no trouble at all, I assure you...You probably come here more then I do..!" That was it, he couldn't take it. Whatever irony this held he knew not, but it was too sudden and happening far too much for him. Going slightly slack-jawed and shoulders slumped, all he could do was stare at her for a long minute. Then without warning he burst into a loud fit of giggling, paws holding his stomach as tears streamed down his merry features. Rocking back and forth he nearly lost his balance on several occasions, making the scene all the more comical. After a moment he amended himself and coughed lightly to dispel any remaining chuckles that still nagged at him to be released. After his breathing slowed to a soft pant he tilted his head and lowered it in a sort of half bow. She seemed so fragile and unsure, he hoped he hadn't caused any offense. After all she was being so terribly polite. Hoping his random outburst hadn't set the mood in the wrong direction he held up his paws in an innocent gesture. "Nay lass I'm fine. Oh sure I was dozin' off a wee bit but it's nothing t'worry about. Besides, as I'm sure you just noticed...Gosh darn hard to insult me!" Smiling goofily he looked for another topic, hoping she wouldn't inquire about his odd fit. He was sure if she hadn't seen him as strange before, she certainly did now. "Naw then, hmm...Uh, what are you doin' around these parts? This place mean anything special to ya?"
Jade Wolfbane flicked her ears back more when the other spoke. She opened her mouth to speak more but the laughter that rumbled from the other took her by surprize, silencing her even more until the show was over. Though you have to admit, laughter was contagious, she almost laughed as well, although she had no idea what was so funny. Jade looked around, wondering what it was. Was it her? Ears drooped. Finally it was over and she listened to the next string of words. She opened her mouth again to in fact ask just what was so funny but the topic was changed in the blink of an eye. "Well, um, yes. I live here." she admitted shyly. Not much of a place to live. It was all open and no dens of sort she could crawl into to be safe from the weather. It was nice out though, why worry! "Are you a loner too?" she asked stupidly, unable to think of what else to say that wasn't dragging the laughter topic back up.
Won generally was not the sort of canine that liked to wait around for the excitement and action to come to her, as most of the Millennium wolves liked to do. Sitting around did nothing but prove that the majority of the pack were lazy, and so - while Ransford and the others were in the den, Won had taken one of her four daughters to hunt. The young princess had fallen asleep during the alliance that was made, and so - their scheduled hunting never took place. The alpha and princess were headed on their way home, however, when Won caught the words of another shewolf, and stopped to investigate. She soon found herself in company of a young hybrid and a large black shewolf, and the alpha quickly wondered if the shewolf was planning to kill the younger creature. "Well hello." She cooed softly, moving swiftly to the rock that had been dubbed at the home of another, placing her daughter on the rocks behind her, to ensure her safety. Rogues could never be trusted, and though she had been one of them once - she could not trust that situation would remain peaceful.
Vaustrilious Guirelle Jager Inwardly berated himself for letting himself get carried away. His emotions were as free-flowing as the stream he had wallowed in just alittle while before. Sighing Vaust dropped all pretenses. "Hey, listen...I apologize for my random outburst. Just, ever since I came to this neck of the woods I've been thrust into the most peculiar of situations..." Ear twitched at her words and he hastily removed himself from the spot where he was situated. "Wait, wha? This's your place? Oh golly I'm sorry! Honest I am..Didn't know it belonged to anyone." Wiping the dampened and compressed grass with a paw he tried to arrange them back neatly the way he had found it. During his travels he had never found a place where he could stay long enough to have it considered to be a, 'home' but that didn't stop him from respecting another sanctuary. "I really am so--" He began to say only to freeze as the back fur of his neck prickled. Even as he turned he heard the other voice speak. Whirling around he sunk to a half crouch, eyeing the newcomer wearily. Tail swayed behind him cautiously. His heart hammered in his chest from the unexpected visit and he had to control his short breathing. Today was, despite what he had assumed, turning out to be anything then a quiet sort of day.
Jade Wolfbane smiled at the male, still not knowing his name. Words cut short though by another arriving, Jade looked too at the stranger female whom perched herself on the rocks Jade usually sprawled herself upon. Hiding back a frown, Jade put on the show of smiling politely at her and her.. kid? D'aw, puppys were so cute. "Hello there." she said, still just as friendly as ever, despite circumstances. A quick glance at the male, she blinked and then cleared her throat. "Well Um..." Oh what awkward times, only 'cause I cant think of what to post. "You know what, you're fine." She said to the male. "I'm Jade by the way, what are your.. names?" question directed at them both, and perhaps the chitlin as well.
Won hadn't meant to ruin the moment between the two, nor had she meant to cause the little guy to act so nervous, and Won wondered if it was because he was thinking guilty thoughts. Her ears flickered back with narrowed eyes as she glanced down at the two. "The pleasure's mine, Jade." She cooed softly, turning her body so that she could keep an eye on her daughter, should the little hybrid try to make a move. "I'm Won, alpha of Millennium." She smiled softly, tending to her daughter for a moment, to make sure she was completely comfortable, before turning towards the others - wondering if they were foolish enough to admit that 'they had not heard of such pack', as most loners were. She grinned softly, though - allowing her eyes to settle against the hybrid.
Vaustrilious Guirelle Jager Slowly let his tightened muscles loosen, although a knot of tension still resonated within his gut, aware that he was in the presence of mother and child, and of the owner of this property. Staring back into the eyes of Won he didn't blink nor turn away. Then, as if loosing interest, returned his attention to Jade. "It's a pleasure I'm sure miss Jade, and the same to you Won an' to your little one." He had heard the word millennium before, but had never taken careful note of it. He never longed to join a pack and such the names of them would be meaningless. Still, respect should be given where it's due. In his traditional manner he reached up and tugged his ear down with a paw politely in Won's direction. Looking back to Jade he asked, "Miss, you seem uncomfortable..If my presence is bothering you, I'd be more then willing to leave. I don't wish to upset the neither of ya iffen' I don't have to." Half sitting and half standing he watched the both of them, wary but calm.
Jade Wolfbane perked her ears up when Won had stated she was an alpha. Alpha? Really!? How cool. Jade's smile grew a bit. "Oh, wow.." It was really unfortunate of her to not know of this pack's name. But she never got around to learning any of the names of the many packs that resided in Yellowstone, so there. Jade quickly looked back to ..the male and frowned. "Oh no, you're not bothering me." she said quickly, wagging her tail behind her. "Not at all!" She liked company. She hated being alone. And being alone was most of what she's been lately. Company, awkward or not, was still great to her!
Won chuckled softly with a nod, having never really thought of being an alpha as 'impressive stuff' until now. From a loner's point of view, an alpha was probably something amazing, she snorted with a shake of her head. "So, you said you lived here?" She rose her brows, tilting her head to the side with another laugh bc Jess(that's me) has a headache and she's going to go make some mac&cheese.
Vaustrilious Guirelle Jager Smiled uncertaintly and shifted in place, muscled body still slightly tense. Considering the wisdom of telling them his name or not, wondering what kind of possible repercussions there could be for giving such information. With a shrug he decided it didn't matter and voiced aloud to the both of them, "An by the by, the names Vaustrilious. Though you can call me Vaust." Doing a slight four-pawed curtsy he looked between the two of them, wondering why he still felt on edge. They were both friendly enough, aye. They didn't seem to want trouble, aye. But something about being around this many wolves at one time...Seemed to remind him of things he never considered before. Memories flashed behind his eyes as he thought back to it. Yeah, it made alittle sense why. Plus, a mother and child was always something to be respected, and feared. Looking up to the both of them he gestured vaguely with a paw, the other gouging the earth with heavy claws to keep his balance. "So, what happens now? You two don't seem to know each other very well. I've heard of your pack miss, but I've never seen your members before. Or if I have, didn't know they belonged to you. As I'm sure you've realized I'm new in these parts, so the different authorities of the area are still a bit of a mystery to me. But I still respect your position, nonetheless. Only thing I wish to ask is, am I in any danger from you? Jade doesn't seem to mind my company, but what about you? Do you have anything to add?" Knitting his brows in a frown Vaust stood there thinking to himself. There was something in him that seemed unidentifiable. Something he wanted, something to be understood...A longing, almost. Stealing himself a slow breath he pushed the matter away for later.
Jade Wolfbane nodded to Won. "Yeah, it isn't much, but I like it." she said, rather proud of her little area of a home she made for herself. The area all her new friends of Yellowstone could come whenever they felt like it. Which she did wish was more often! Jade looked to Vaust as he finally introduced himself. Oh what an interesting name. Biting her tongue then, she let the other to chitchat. Of course shaking her head first at the comment about knowing each other. Jade hardly knew anyone. Especially anyone from a pack. This WON being the first, and an alpha at that! Attention wavering from one to the other and back again.
Won blinked towards the two of them with a slight nod, though her attention remained upon the coywolf. "First of all, it's very nice to meet you, Vaustrilious. It is not often that I get the pleasure of meeting a coywolf." She cooed softly, smiling to the questions that came next. "Jade and I are not.. friends in the manner that you might think. We just met, you see - so, no.. I don't know much about her, besides that I'm in her 'territory' and that her name is Jade." She chuckled softly, nodding softly. "Most loners and hybrids do not know of Millennium because they have never bothered to find out which pack resides where, but just because Millennium is the biggest pack in the park does not mean that you are in any danger. I assure you that you are in no danger, so long as you do not cause trouble. Millennium is a peaceful pack, as we do not take part in war." Won smiled, grooming over her paws. "Jade doesn't mind the company because she's always alone. I do not mind company, so long as my children are not in any danger."
Vaustrilious Guirelle Jager Raised an eyebrow slowly. "Then, you'd just let anyone walk your land, so long as they meant no harm? That's very kind of ya." Gaze shifting he placed it on Won's little pup, eyeing her closely. She looked healthy and well fed. Looking back at Won he kept it there for a long while, eyes piercing with a steely glint. Minutes elapsed uninterrupted, until he shifted and turned his head to the side, his normally cheerful demeanor forgotten. "You must forgive me, I don't trust other dogs much, nor do I feel comfortable around 'em." Absent mindedly he picked a piece of dirt from his chest fur and flicked it away, wishing he could follow after it. "Jade...You said yourself to be lonesome, and you Won say that you mean me no harm so long as I reciprocate the act." Standing slowly he strode past Jade, keeping a good distance apart and layed down closer to the water. He felt oddly comfortable there. "I'll tell you this though. I don't like or trust either of you, but I'm willing to learn, so if either of you need assistance....Depending on what it is, I could offer my help." Vaust gestured at the young one by Won's side. "For instance, protecting innocence from harm."
Won folded her ears back, wondering if the coywolf had a mental condition, or if he was really that stupid. She waited several moments before speak, and within that time, her lips had curled up into the form of a silent snarl. "Dogs?" She hissed lowly, the hairs on the back of her neck standing. "I am not a dog, and I'm sure Jade isn't either.." She growled lowly with the snap of her canines. "You have good reason not to trust wolves, as they'd happily tear you apart. However, I'm sure you'd get along with a dog just fine." She snapped, narrowing her eyes as she lowered her figure to block view of her daughter. "Coywolves are in no position to be offering help, unless it is to spy; a wolf could tear you apart within mere seconds - but should I'll keep your offer in mind."
Vaustrilious Guirelle Jager Seemed to attain great amusement in Won's sudden spark of anger, though he kept his face expressionless. They were all the same, he thought to himself. Deep down they were all exactly the same. That one had been nice, but then....Maybe nice was a rare quality reserved for those with power but do not wield it freely. When he saw her move to keep her daughter from view along with her words, he merely smiled charmingly, eyes darkening slightly. "Did I offend ya missy? Well now I 'spose I did. Too bad though, cause t'me, save a few individuals, dogs are dogs, simple as that. Not bein' disrespectful or anything. If you want me to call you a wolf though, y'might wanna consider simply askin'." Rolling his shoulders he put on a mask of comical innocense. "Deary me lady, of course you could probably do away with me easily. I'm not even full grown yet. But then...Is size and strength the only thing that dictates victory? I think not. An' spyin' ain't my specialty, nor will it ever be. I dunno what kind of coyotes, foxes, or whatever mixes of those like have done to give you this impression, but allow me to enlighten you," He raised a claw for emphasis, looking directly at her. "I'm not just a black sheep, I'm a black sheep with white polka dots. So iffen' you want to be called a wolf lady, that's fine by me. But if that is the case, then I expect alot of those stereotypes you've gotten from goodness knows where to be out of your thoughts and this discussion, cause it holds no place over me." Finished speaking he lowered his paw and looked at her, back straight and ears erect, tailtip twitching slightly.
Won didn't quite think that his smile was at all 'charming' - there was nothing charming, or cute about rude canines & the only thing keeping her from attacking him was her daughter. He was young; she knew this by his stature, and the lack of formal speech - which was probably why he assumed all canines to be okay with the term of a dog. And she wondered if he'd been raised with Man - not that it was any of her concern. But alas, as he was finally finished with runnin' thst trap of his, she merely nodded, and picked up her daughter. It was time to head home.
Vaustrilious Guirelle Jager Nuzzled the underside of his jaw against his chest, eyes closing for a minute in what looked like calm tranquility. Gazingto at her as she picked up her young one, his eye glazed over with some hidden emotion, attachment even. Another layer joined the first, though if it was anger, sadness, loneliness, it was hard to decipher. Grinning ruefully to himself he stood, calling after Won, "An' by the way madam, thank you, sincerely, thank you. I learned alot by talkin' to you an' Jade there. I hope y'have a pleasent walk home." His eyes softened as they fell on the little bundle of fur clamped securely in her mothers jaws. "An' make sure that little one never has to know the feelin' of being alone. Spoil her rotten, y'know?" With that he sent them off with a wave of his tail and a smile as bright as the evening sun.
Half sitting and half standing he watched the both of them, wary but calm.
She rose her brows, tilting her head to the side with another laugh bc Jess(that's me) has a headache and she's going to go make some mac&cheese.
